STRIDE PROGRAMS

Stride Programs, all five-weeks long, are full of unique, fun workouts that blend running and strength training. (Read: You rarely repeat a workout.) The plans have you sweating five days a week, with an option for a sixth day of a yoga or other low-key cross-training session if your schedule allows.

Stride Programs are all about forward motion, fitness, accountability and community, not about training for a specific race. The workouts are one-size-fits-all, whether you’re a walker, run/walker, or runner, and whether you’re just starting to run, coming back to it after a decade off, or just need a little push to get you jump started again.

Held during the times of the year when crazy busy schedules often sabotage motivation, Stride Programs are the perfect way to maintain your fitness. And your sanity.

Each Stride Program Includes:
★ An original training plan with five weeks of unique workouts that blend running + strength training.
★ A private Facebook page + Strava club.
★ Short, easy-to-follow strength training videos.
★ Accountability galore: The workout is posted daily on the Facebook page, so you and your #motherrunner teammates can motivate, inspire, and push each other out the virtual door.

Good question. This Club is a branch of Another Mother Runner, started by Dimity McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea. Back when our five collective kids were ankle-biters, we ran the Nike Women’s Marathon, wrote about our training for Runner’s World magazine, then turned the whole experience into Run Like a Mother, a chatty, advice-filled book published in 2010. (Here’s an excerpt from Runner’s World.) Train Like a Mother (excerpt) followed in 2012, and Tales from Another Mother Runner (guess what? excerpt) completed the trilogy in 2015.

Along the way, Another Mother Runner has flourished into an amazing community of badass women centered around the idea that the benefits of your miles ricochet through all aspects of your life. When you run, you are a more patient mother, a more loving partner, a more productive worker, and a more positive person altogether. (Note: By run, we mean forward movement. Walking, jogging, and running at any and all speeds count.)
